While its portrayed as a luxurious family sedan the 2019 Passat which comes in two feature packed trims such as the Wolfsburg and SE R-Line has some fine refinements on the exterior starting with bold sporty lines. The Wolfsburg comes with 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels while the SE R-Line Trim featured 19-inch twin 5-spoke alloy wheels that can made heads turn. The wide grille across the front ends on either side with the headlights integrated into the design. LED headlights with daytime running lights come standard in the SE R-Line and are available for the Wolfsburg and the same applied to the taillights. The trunk can be opened hands-free just by swiping your foot under the rear of the car.
Get into the lap of luxury using key less entry that’s a standard Passat feature along with push button start. Once inside you are greeted by spacious layouts that give plenty of legroom both in front and rear. Seating is premium with V-Tex leatherette on the Wolfsburg and Titan-black leatherette on the R-Line. Front seats are heated, and the driver seat has 8-way power adjustments. The multi-function Steering is leather-wrapped, and the console features a premium color Multifunction Display. Gear-shift knob is leather wrapped as well. Air-conditioning turns out to be manual in the Wolfsburg, while the R-Line thankfully has dual-zone automatic climate control.
Infotainment & Technology
A 6.3-inch color touchscreen with sound system and proximity sensor doles out infotainment on the Wolfsburg, while a 6.3-inch color touchscreen with Navigation and proximity sensor and all the other features dominates the infotainment scene in the R-Line. The controls on the dash are easily accessible intuitive and quite responsive. Bluetooth technology with audio streaming, a rear-view camera system and USB charging ports are standard. The AppConnect is one nimble feature that allows easy smartphone integration where you get access to your apps on the touchscreen display as soon as you connect your phone through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. SiriusXM All Access and Fender Premium Audio system are available to give your family some fun time.
Engine used in the Passat R-Line displayed at Volkswagen Seaside was a 2.0L inline four cylinder, 16V, turbocharged/intercooled, TSI which dole out 174 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This is naturally supported by a 6-speed automatic transmission that has Sport mode. Performance is both enhanced and controlled by the active safety features in the Passat such as Electronic Stability Control, Engine Brake Assist, Anti-slip Regulation and Anti-lock braking system.
